Darvocet addiction is actually quite common, though its intended use is to treat moderate to mild pain.  It is actually a combination of two drugs, one being quite common and found in medicine cabinets across the country.  Acetaminophen is one of the main ingredients of Darvocet, and does have health risks over prolonged use on its own, as well as in conjunction with use of alcohol, as you will read on the warning contained on the side of your pain reliever bottle.  The other ingredient is propoxyphen, which is acts similarly to that of methadone and is extremely addictive, which makes a Darvocet addiction even more dangerous than previously thought, and has even lead to death.

Darvocet, along with its addictive qualities, also has a long list of potential side effects, which do not seem to hamper one from developing a full blown addiction.  Many people may not even realize or admit to having an addiction.  They may be convinced that they are taking it on a routine basis or in higher amounts due to a medical condition or because they are taking it in a lower dose that they may not have a problem.  Identifying that you may have an addiction can be just as difficult for some as getting help for an addiction.  If you are concerned about your use of Darvocet, and if it is possible that you may be developing an addiction, it is always wise to seek assistance from your medical health care provider.

There are many wonderful treatment programs available to those who may be suffering from a Darvocet addiction and are ready to get the help they need to be free from the drug.  Detoxification from the drug is an essential part of treatment.  Withdrawal symptoms can be both physical and psychological.  Physical symptoms of withdrawal can include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, as well as aches and pains.  The psychological withdrawal can be a lot more difficult to deal with, because your brain has convinced itself that it needs the Darvocet in order to function and be free from pain.

Therapy for a Darvocet addiction is common, and can prove to be quite effective in a person’s course of rehabilitation.  There are some great resources available to those seeking treatment and some really great rehabilitation treatment programs to suit your needs.  While you may be convinced a particular method of treatment is absolutely ineffective, it may be successful for someone else.  It helps to understand that everyone is different, and the method of treatment that works for you, may not be effective for someone else.  Darvocet addiction and addictions in general affect people differently and their response to treatment will differ from person to person.  If we were all effected the exact same by every drug and were able to be treated exactly the same, there would not be an issue and rehabilitation would be highly effective for everyone. The fact is that due to how drugs affect people differently, and their response both physically and psychologically plays a large role in their recovery.
